BIOGRAPHY

Ruth A. Sattig Betz has a tax consulting practice in Farmingdale, Long Island, NY.

 Prior to starting her practice sixteen years ago, she spent over 17 years with both large local and national public accounting firms.  Her clientele includes individuals, closely-held businesses, fellow CPAs and attorneys.  During her 33 years of experience, Ruth's tax work has included tax planning, research, tax examinations, dealing with various taxing authorities and return preparation for all sizes of businesses - from start-up to middle-market and public companies.  The industries of these businesses include service, wholesale, retail, real estate and manufacturing.  Ruth's individual clients include business owners, executives, professionals and high net-worth individuals.  She also is experienced in the estate and trust tax area, including planning and preparation of estate tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns.

As a recognized authority and speaker on New York State taxation, Ruth frequently speaks before fellow CPAs.  She has also spoken before community groups on various tax subjects.  Ruth is past chairperson of the Cooperation with Taxing Authorities Committee and the State and Local Taxation Committee for the Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs.  She has served as a member of the executive board of the Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs, and has also been the recipient of their  Distinguished Service Award.  Ruth has written articles on taxation for various publications.  She is very active in professional, business and community organizations, including the New York Society of Certified Public Accountants, Women Economic Developers of LI (past treasurer), Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce (past executive vice president and member of Business Improvement District Steering Committee) and the Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women (as treasurer).  Ruth received her Masters in Taxation from the C.W. Post Professional School of Accountancy and her Bachelor of Science magna cum laude in accounting from C.W. Post College.
